TOEFL Exam Pattern 

The TOEFL exam is administered by ETS and is now available in three formats: the TOEFL iBT (Internet- based format), TOEFL at Home (a test taken at home), and the TOEFL Paper Delivered test (held at both the TOEFL test center and home). 

The sections are sequenced in the TOEFL exam as Reading>Listening >Speaking >Writing. The overall TOEFL score range is 0 to 120, and the score range for each exam section is 0 to 30. 

Sequence and score range

After the initial two exam parts, there is a compulsory 10-minute break. The test-takers can leave the exam room during the interval to move around, stretch, and for refreshments.

It is crucial for you to fully know the pattern to assist you in properly organizing a study plan and getting the target overall score. The exam pattern is designed in a way to assess the overall English language skills.

Reading: 30-40 questions - 54-72 minutes  Listening: 8-39 questions- 41-57 minutes  Break: 10 minutes  Speaking: 4 tasks- 17 minutes  Writing: 2 tasks- 50 minutes
