19 ways to be happier in 2023

Rectify your sleeping cycle  Go to bed on time and wake up early in the morning

Plan your day  Even if you are not into planning your day ahead, try doing it for 2 weeks regularly. You will realise how sorted it feels.

Eat ‘ghar ka khaana’  Home-cooked meals are the best and why not begin the year with a resolution to treat your body better?

Workout  Exercise at home if you don’t want to spend money on a gym membership. Do Zumba or dance like a crazy person behind a closed door.

Help at an NGO  Visit some NGOs, and see where you can help monetarily or as a volunteer to be a physical helping hand. You can always sit with senior citizens at old-age homes

Drink lots of water  Make sure you drink ample water. Set a cycle so that your body stops suffering from dehydration this year.

Read books  Find your poison and get books. Read them slowly if you hate reading. One page a day is the best way to begin.

Organize  Not just your home but also your life. Organise your days.

Meet family  We all take our family for granted. So this year, make it a point that you meet those family members you ignored, at least once a month.

Meet friends  Go on lunches or dinners with your friends. Make sure you do not burn bridges as friends are for life.

Listen to music  Listen to the music that you like and is upbeat. Whatever pushes you to feel good about yourself.

Make the most of your day  Make the most of every single day in your life. Don’t stop yourself from doing things you like; you know they will improve things.

Eat fruits  Enjoying fresh fruits is important for your body so along with home-cooked meals, enjoy fresh fruits too.

Anger management  If you have anger issues, work on them. Take therapy, and channel that energy into doing something better.

Meditation  Meditating every day changes people and that is a popular experience. Try it yourself.

Lessen your screen time   Instead of binge-watching shows and movies, fix a time period and work on it.

Start cooking or baking    Cook yourself a meal every day. It works like therapy for all. No one expects you to be a chef.

Self-care    Practice self-care, and pamper yourself because self-love is the foremost thing in life. If you don’t love yourself, how can you love anyone else?

Cultural events    Step outside your home, and attend cultural events. Watch plays, check out all museums, go to the book fair, chill at ‘Dilli Haat’, or simply take a morning tour of old heritages.
