When Do We Use the Present Continuous Tense?

We use the Present Continuous Tense in the following situations:

1. Actions happening at the moment
   • Example: She is reading a book right now.
2. Temporary situations
   • Example: I am staying with my friend for a few days.
3. Future plans or arrangements
   • Example: We are meeting at the restaurant at 7 PM.
4. Repeated actions with “always” (to show annoyance or irritation)
   • Example: He is always interrupting me!

Structure of Present Continuous Tense

The Present Continuous Tense is formed using:

Subject + am/is/are + Verb(-ing)

Negative Sentences:

• I am not eating right now.
• They are not coming to the party.

Questions:

• Are you watching TV?
• Is she cooking dinner?
