Common phrases bad listeners say
Improve your Vocabulary
When you say this to someone who’s telling you something, it can be really hurtful to them.
“I don’t really care”
When you say this, it is a clear indication that you aren’t really interested in what they’re saying.
“Maybe”
This means you are directly telling the person that their problem isn’t big enough to be bothered about. And this can be pretty frustrating.
“Why are you getting bothered?”
The person doesn’t really want to listen to your story when they are telling about themselves.
“I know what you’re feeling. I had the same…”
There shouldn’t be a ‘but’ if you are trying to console someone or show them empathy.
“I am sorry but…”
If someone is trying to tell you their problem, they are asking you for advice but empathy more. But don’t try to be defensive.
“What about what you did?”
Try to give more solutions, instead of just stating it. This will give a “don’t care attitude.”
“It is what it is”
When you say something like this, you are just trying to end the topic or ignore it.
“Just accept it”
Things won’t just fall into place without putting effort. So saying ‘don’t worry’ to a person will only make things worse.
“Don’t worry so much about it”
