Phrasal verbs are a group of words that acts as a verb and has a different meaning from the verb used in it. 

While most experts recommend avoiding phrasal verbs in IELTS Writing, they can be used for IELTS Speaking to impress the examiner.

Knuckle down  Meaning:- to start working or studying hard  Example:- Finally, Sam was able to knuckle down his new moves for the final match. 

Bank on   Meaning:- To rely on somebody/something.  Example:- The manager always banks on his employees to work hard. 

Do away with   Meaning:- to remove or end something  Example:- After he gave the exam, he did away with all the books and study material from his room. 

Map out    Meaning:- to plan or arrange something in a careful or detailed way Example:- My friends will map out a way to tour all the local markets in the evening. 

Bone up on   Meaning:- to learn.  Example:- I had to bone up on my English studies to push my IELTS score to a 7 or higher. 

Zone out    Meaning:- to fall asleep or lose concentration or consciousness  Example:- My sister has a bad habit of zoning out while studying.
