IELTS Listening Test Format

In this section, the test-takers listen to the four recordings of native English speakers. After this, they have to write the answers to a series of questions. This section is of total 30 minutes. 

Recording 1 

A conversation between two people set in an everyday social context 

Recording 2

A monologue set that has been set in an everyday social context 

Recording 3

A conversation between up to four people set in a training or educational context, for instance: a university tutor and a student discussing an assignment 

Recording 4

A monologue on an academic subject, for example a university lecture 

Paper Format 

There are four parts with 10 questions each. The recordings are heard only one time. They include a range of accents like Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealand, and American.
