Study finds link between oral health and brain health
A new study suggests that poor oral health may cause declines in brain health
The study was conducted among 40,000 adults without a history of stroke
Relationship between poor oral health and brain health was evaluated using MRI images
It found that people genetically prone to cavities, missing teeth etc had a higher burden of silent cerebrovascular disease
Those with overall poor oral health had increased damage to the fine architecture of the brain
Earlier studies have also linked signs of poor oral health, to an increased risk of stroke
Researchers say people need to extra cautious about their oral health since it could cause decline in brain health as well
However, finding of the study are preliminary and more research is needed to confirm the analysis
